The CX range of polarisation cameras makes it easy to inspect difficult surfaces and materials using image processing. Using the polarising properties of light, CX polarisation cameras can simultaneously detect the angle of polarisation (AOP) and the degree of polarisation (DOLP) of polarised light, or a combination of both (ADOLP). The camera uses a Sony Polarsens CMOS sensor with a polarisation layer consisting of four pixel-level polarisation filters (0°, 45°, 90° and 135°). This enables the CX Polarsens camera to reliably detect and analyse material properties that are invisible to the naked eye, such as residual stresses in glass or plastic, defects in carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) and subtle quality differences in highly reflective surfaces. This eliminates the need for complex inspection systems with multiple polarisation filters or multi-camera systems, greatly simplifying equipment, reducing system costs and providing users with a simple, cost-effective and efficient in-line solution.
