The Basler Scout series introduces a 2-megapixel camera
2011-05-13

On May 27, 2011, Basler introduced some new models based on the existing Scout series - the SCA1600-28, which can achieve 28 frames per second at 2 megapixels. Divided into black and white and color two models, the camera is the most popular Sony ICX274 CCD chip. In addition, the camera has GigE and IEEE 1394B ports, and a variety of 90° angles to choose from.
The new camera is twice as fast as the current most popular SCA1600-14, which has a speed of 14 frames per second, at 28 frames per second, while guaranteeing the same excellent image quality. Another notable feature of this camera is that its noise level, DSNU(dark noise nonuniformity), and PRNU(light response nonuniformity) are all kept at low levels, as are other Basler cameras. With a 2-megapixel chip, a wide range of features, high quality imaging and a speed of 28 frames per second, the camera has broad market prospects for ITS(intelligent transportation), medical imaging and other industrial applications.
Michael Schwaer, product manager for the Basler Scout line, said, "I am very confident that the SCA1600-28 family of cameras will soon find a place in the market, especially in the ITS market. This camera is especially suitable for transportation applications. Features such as 2 megapixels, 28 frames per second speed, and excellent image quality meet the needs of the ITS industry."
